I’m happy to announce that the “more user-friendly box” is in the final stage of development. The first unit has been assembled and tested, and a few more will go into service in the coming days.
The box is waterproof (IP67) and measures 100 × 68 × 50 mm. It contains a flat lipo pack 10,000 mAh that allows for up to one month of operation without the need for charging. The box is powered by a Faketec V4. It has a sealed USB-C connector for charging, a built-in TP4056 module (1A), a waterproof on/off rocker switch, and SMA connector.
All internal components has been field-tested over the past few weeks in outdoor conditions (in the 3D-printed version). The main change is the use of a standard IP67 enclosure, which allows for faster replication. The number of 3D-printed elements has been reduced.
The case can also hold two battery packs, providing approximately two months of autonomy. A larger enclosure, used in the 8×18650 project, can accommodate three packs. Neither of the higher-capacity versions has been tested yet and are still under development.
In the coming days, an article will be published describing the build and providing a list of components.
