Advert settings

Advert is a message that your radio is sending to everyone in the mesh.

Everyone can hear it, so it is the best way to show that you exist.

There are in general two types of advert, “Zero Hop” when nodes in the direct contact will hear you, and other type “Flood Routed” when every repeater will forward this advert, so all users/nodes in the mesh will see your advert.

Companion radios will send adverts only manually, so you can select when and how you send it.

It looks a little different with repeaters and room servers.

There are also two options, but you select intervals, how often both types of adverts will be send.

The intervals for advert can be selected, when you log to the repeater, in settings tab

for zero up to 240min, and for flood up to 48h

To avoid flooding the mesh with adverts, I would recommend to keep Zero hop 240 and Flood 12-24h

Room servers send advert same way as repeaters.

And again good practice is to set an approximate location, to show others the position of the node on the map. I does not have to be super accurate, but at least give something close ( not in the middle of the ocean for example)
